Mary Snell is the Chief Executive Officer of New Leaf Organization, operating Buckeye Community Schools across multiple communities in Ohio. With over 20 years of experience, she has been instrumental in designing and leading innovative dropout prevention and credit recovery charter school models focused on re-engaging students and improving long-term academic outcomes.
As a co-founder of seven successful schools, Mary has played a key role in shaping the organization’s vision, strategy, and student-centered approach to education. Her background spans multiple roles, including educator, home visit officer, EMIS coordinator, and enrollment specialist, giving her a comprehensive understanding of the systems and relationships that support student success. She also contributed to the early development of the organization’s data systems, enabling more effective tracking of student progress and timely interventions.
Her leadership is focused on creating holistic learning environments that support both academic achievement and students’ social and emotional well-being. Under her guidance, the seven schools she co-founded have supported more than 5,500 students in earning their high school diplomas, many of whom have gone on to pursue higher education and career pathways.
Mary continues to be recognised for her impact in education reform, with New Leaf Organization earning strong recognition in Ohio for its academic outcomes and operational responsibility. She remains committed to expanding access to education and redefining success for students in alternative learning environments.
