Prith Banerjee

Senior Vice President of Innovation, Synopsys

Bio

Prith Banerjee is Senior Vice President of Innovation at Synopsys, where he leads the Synopsys Innovation Group (SIG), driving advancements in EDA, simulation and analysis, and IP. In this role, he works closely with Fellows, Chief Technologists, Architects, and technical leaders to shape the company’s long-term technology strategy while fostering collaboration across teams, customers, startups, partners, and academia.


Prior to Synopsys, Prith served as Chief Technology Officer at Ansys, where he guided the company’s technology vision. He has also held senior executive leadership roles at Schneider Electric, ABB, Accenture, and Hewlett-Packard, including Executive Vice President and CTO positions. At HP, he led global innovation efforts as Senior Vice President of Research and Director of HP Labs.


Earlier in his career, Prith held distinguished academic leadership roles, including Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Northwestern University. He also began his academic journey as a professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.


A serial entrepreneur, he founded AccelChip, later acquired by Xilinx, and BINACHIP, where he served as Founder, Chairman, and Chief Scientist. His research spans electronic design automation and parallel computing, with over 350 technical publications and supervision of 37 Ph.D. students.


Prith is widely recognised for his contributions to technology and innovation and is a Fellow of AAAS, ACM, IEEE, and the National Academy of Inventors. He has received numerous honors, including the IEEE Taylor Booth Award, ASEE Terman Award, and NSF Presidential Young Investigator Award. He holds degrees from IIT Kharagpur and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
