Bio

Bertha Wakisa Chiudza is an internationally recognized sustainability, climate finance, gender equality, and social inclusion leader with more than 17 years of experience designing and implementing transformative development initiatives across Africa, Europe, and Asia. Her career has spanned leadership roles with leading international organizations, including the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), UNOPS, UNFPA, WFP, Oxfam, and Plan International.


Throughout her career, Bertha has championed inclusive climate action by integrating gender equality, environmental and social safeguards, and community resilience into large-scale development investments. Her expertise has supported governments, multilateral institutions, development partners & private sectors in strengthening policies and financing mechanisms that ensure climate investments benefit the most vulnerable communities.


Beyond her international career, Bertha is the Founder of Tsinde Eco Empower, a Malawi-based circular economy enterprise transforming waste into sustainable livelihood opportunities while promoting environmental stewardship and green entrepreneurship. She is also co-founder of Mizu Garden & Events Centre in Malawi, where the enterprise is pioneering sustainable events management and the development of an eco-events garden. She is passionate about designing innovative solutions that connect climate resilience, economic empowerment, and social justice.


A multi-award winner at the global level, a respected thought leader and speaker, Bertha has contributed to international conferences and policy discussions on climate finance, sustainability, inclusive leadership, and economic empowerment especially for underserved people and communities. Her work reflects a commitment to practical, scalable solutions that enable communities to thrive while protecting natural ecosystems.


Bertha believes sustainable development is most impactful when it empowers people alongside protecting the planet. She continues to advocate for inclusive leadership, innovation, and strategic partnerships that advance resilient communities and accelerate progress toward the SDGs. Based in Malawi, she remains committed to bridging global development practice with grassroots impact, proving that thriving communities and thriving economies are built together.
