Dr. Zubaida Sirang is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon and Lead of Community Ophthalmology at Aga Khan University (AKU), recognized as one of Pakistan’s emerging leaders in eye health. Combining clinical excellence with a public health perspective, she has transformed how ophthalmic care is delivered across the country.

Dr. Sirang pioneered the hub-and-spoke model of ophthalmology in Pakistan, strengthening referral networks, enhancing patient care, and bringing specialist services closer to underserved communities. Her work has improved access to timely eye care and is now considered a national model in community ophthalmology.

An accomplished educator and researcher, she has contributed to scholarship in oculoplastics, orbital disease, thyroid eye disease, optics, and innovative service-delivery strategies. She mentors young clinicians and champions early eye examinations, amblyopia awareness, and community-based screening programs. Her book, Optics Made Easy, has gained international acclaim for simplifying complex ophthalmic concepts, cementing her reputation as a teacher who bridges theory with practice.

Currently pursuing an advanced Fellowship in Orbit, Oculofacial & Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Calgary, Dr. Sirang continues to expand her subspecialty expertise while advancing accessible eye care in Pakistan. With her blend of surgical skill, academic leadership, and visionary public health initiatives, she represents the future of modern, equitable ophthalmic care.
